Seems so, Baz. The agreement has just been used as a means of legitimating ever more annihilation and ever more theft of land. The death zone keeps getting bigger, and the only area where Palestinans enjoy any formal protection keeps getting chipped away at and made more inhospitable as you say.
It's ideology. Zionism is the monstrification of certain elements of Judaism. It's the secular manifestation of celestial exceptionalism and spiritual supremacism. Anything and everything is justified with such absolutist thinking. But humans are capable of such great things too, it's just that the Zionists represent all the worst of our species.
But if we take the whole of what Israel has done, of course only the strongest of superlatives apply - monstrous, diabolical, horrifying, infernal, evil.
Representing all that is most vile, how could everyone else not hate them. The only reason the greater portion of the political class in the west doesn't hate them, is because they greatly profit from their vile behavior. Not to mention, that if it weren't for that same class of people, Israel would never have existed. After all, this whole "project" had began as a collaboration between the early, Ashkenazi Jewish progenitors of Zionism and Western, high level, political leaders, who embraced--and so converted to--Zionism for their own seperate but overlapping reasons; some for utterly deranged religious reasons, others for reasons of utility, profit and sheer material greed.
And they even only benefit from their vile behaviour partially. They've destroyed the last vestiges of their order for the world's craziest and most horrible state. Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States now see the tag-team as the greatest threat to the ME. It will cause ever more chaos and unpredictability in the long-run. And if they're crazy enough to put boots on the ground in Iran, I don't think R and C can or will sit this one out.
It has been a pet project of the West - Britain most especially then the US - for 100 years. I mention this in my new piece in fact. 'Project' or 'pet project' are definitely the words for it.
Again Israel tests their limits of impunity, and yet again they find themselves impune. So long as the world doesn't put a halt to their brutal expansion and atrocities, they will continue. For if not the rest of the world, then who/what? Their non-existent morality? Their deranged legal system? No, this issue has always been far bigger; it has always been an international issue.kj8

The people either get crowded into a tiny space of land with totally inadequate resources, in the midst of awful winter storms and risk freezing to death due to completely inadequate tents, dying of malnutrition or starvation. Or they risk getting shot by occupation "soldiers" for crossing the always shifting line or going about their daily lives trying to survive, it's just awful.

And it's not just Palestinian lands. For example, the moment the Asad regime in Syria had fallen, as Syrians were celebrating the fall of a brutal tyrant, Israel bombed a bunch of places and stole more Syrian land. They've done it to Lebanon, too. They are akin to a blight; thieving land as they bring forth death, misery and destruction where ever they metastasize. To add insult to grievous injury, that blight then calls itself the victim of that which it drains of life and robs of happiness. Disgusting.
Israel has become the ultimate rogue state. It's some kind of demon state in its final form. As you say, on top of the genocide they attack their neighbours with impunity.
And putting Netanyahu on the 'Board of Peace' is like putting Ted Bundy in charge of a sorority.

It's just an unrelentingly horrifying situation, and the choice presented to Hamas is purposefully impossible. Either way Palestine loses.
